the cutest thing I've heard all day

Mac, sitting at his computer working with his headphones on, singing along quietly to Death Cab for Cutie's "Soul Meets Body." It's the cutest thing I've heard all day.

Best. Possible. Result.

Every once in awhile I'll think of something creative or interesting and think, "I should blog that." And then I promptly forget whatever (most certainly brilliant) thing had just popped into my head, wish I had a tape recorder in my pocket or a stenographer to follow me around, and decide to post the results of my latest online quiz instead.

But seriously? Best. Possible. Result. Oh, yeah. I'm a badass.

crazy-making time suck

For people visiting my blog for updates on my life, I'm sorry I've been absent. As it turns out, quitting the job you've had for, like, EVER, to start a new company and work from home in a new industry can be somewhat of a crazy-making time suck. I still think that I made the right move, but, well. As I explained to my sister this morning, I left a very secure job that was making me unhappy, to work in a very happy environment, but in a more insecure situation. And that's exactly how it feels.

So that's the short & sweet update before I get back to work. In the meantime,

Party on, dude!

Alrighty, everyone. Remember when I said I had news? Yeah. I emailed this out to everyone at my company today:

Subject: So long, and thanks for all the fish

Hey everyone,
As many of you know, today's my last day at Ticketmaster after nearly seven years. I'm sad to be leaving a company that's doing such cool things right now; I'm even sadder to be leaving behind some of my favorite people to work with, ever. (Quick shout-out to my West region peeps--you rock!) I am, however, excited to be starting my own company--something I've always wanted to do--and getting back to focusing on the movies I love so much.

I sincerely hope that we can keep in touch, and have listed all my info below. As for all of you here at Ticketmaster, keep kicking all the ass you do. In the immortal words of Bill and Ted: "Be excellent to each other. And party on, dude!"

Best,
D
